For the Love of Bringing Books to Life: Write, Publish, and Be Known

Writing a Book and Got Stuck? 5 Cures

book writing coach Lisa Tener

I just got an e-mail from a Bring Your Book to Life Program participant who’s a little stuck. Thought I’d share a few ideas–three related to book outlines: 1. Go Deeper in Your Book Outline: Sometimes you just need to be clearer about what goes into the chapter and where you’re going. A more detailed outline can get the juices moving. 2. Forget Your Book Outline: If the outline is constraining you or taking you in the wrong direction, maybe it’s time to put the outline aside and try writing without one. 3. The Ultimate Book Launch Party

Hunt Slonem Book launch party

I just returned from a trip to NY for the book launch party of The Creativity Cure by my clients Drs. Carrie and Alton Barron. And there is a whole community of people to thank for this honor–so, thank you. The three categories? * New Product or Service of the[...]

Lisa: What is list building? Is it the same as platform building or more specific, because it’s about people on your list? Louise: List-building is about building a community of folks who are excited to receive free information from you and hear about future offers that provide additional value.  These people agreed to hear more from you, by signing up on your email list.  The value is in connection – connecting with each person who subscribed to your list, all human beings every one! Lisa: Why is it important? Louise: Without this community, it would be difficult to spread your[...]

Book Writing: How to Get the Writing Done

book writing coach Lisa Tener

On a call with my mastermind partners today, I suggested we use the 5-question format I use with my book writing students for accountability (courtesy of my mentor and friend Mitch Feigenberg): What did I say I’d do? What did I actually do? What worked? What didn’t? What’s next? Out of my 3 commitments, I’d completed 2. I’d already scheduled commitment 3 in my calendar, so just scheduling again for this week wasn’t going to work. Instead, I decided first to be realistic. 8-10 hours just wasn’t happening–too much to do to support my Bring Your Book to Life participants.[...]
