Writers: Social Media Contest for My Platform Building Presentation

Your Book Writing Coach

In preparing for my presentation on Building Your Online Platform at URI’s Ocean State Summer Writing Conference, I’ve been looking for good examples of authors who use their Facebook page effectively or who have created great YouTube book trailers and other author videos.

Well, that could take a great deal of research time, but not if you help me. So, please nominate your favorite examples and the winners will receive:

  • Their (or Your) Facebook Page or YouTube Video featured in my presentation to potentially hundreds of people
  • A copy of my special report: Writing Breakthrough: 5 Powerful Steps for Inspiration and Flow to help you eliminate blocks and consistently write from an inspired place
  • Books by conference presenters (including Crystal Wilkinson)
  • More prizes to be announced shortly…

Can you nominate yourself? Of course!

Nominate them here as a comment. Share the link and anything else you’d like to say. And I hope to see you at URI June 23-25 for an inspiring and brilliant writing conference.

Hi Lisa. An old friend moved to the boonies and started writing books about dogs, from the dog’s point-of-view. Obviously there’s a niche here–crazy dog people.

Lelan’s Facebook page is CONTSANTLY trying to sell the book (which is a bit annoying, but easily skimmed). There is a hokey video on his amazon page as well. He’s definitely been selling books, not sure how many though.

On the Ocean State Summer Writing Conference Page on Facebook, Gigi Edwards nominated Jennifer Weiner for her Facebook Page. Jennifer’s is a great example of a page that offers readers many ways to connect–inviting readers to events (note the fun pun), her blog, videos, tips and much more. My only criticism is that she has 3 different tabs for videos and only one seems to work. Make sure that you only have tabs for those features you are actually using (confession: we only recently took off some tabs we had not been using in my own Facebook Page). The page has some interactivity: her blog being the main way readers can engage with her, as well as a survey. I think I’d like to see a bit more interactivity. Still, well done–and much more developed than my own Facebook page–I’m taking notes, Jennifer.
