BEGINNERS ALWAYS WELCOME – Easy to follow and learn. We practice the “Master Key” practices from Robert Peng’s first book, The Master Key, published by MacMillan/Sounds True. You do not need to read the book to join us, but I heartily recommend reading it! It gives a fascinating account of Master Robert Peng’s qigong journey which began at the age of 5 in Xiangtan, China when he met his qigong Master Xiao Yao in the most unlikely of places and became his final disciple.

A Few of the Ways Qigong Transformed My Life
I began studying Chinese martial arts in 1997 at the former Brookline Tai Chi, with Bill Ryan (whom I met through the MIT alumni network). One of the most amazing benefits I experienced in that time: practicing tai chi walking in the hospital hallway the day after a c-section. I was able to stop the pain meds ASAP due to the benefits of this simple practice!

Around 2016 I joined qigong classes with Leah Franklin in order to increase my energy level. I often found myself searching for pen and paper during class as creative ideas for my writing began to flow with ease, stimulated by the mindful movement practices. The results were too potent to keep to myself. I incorporated qigong into my writing classes so that my book coaching clients and students could benefit from the creative flow and inspiration induced by qigong. My students loved it and reported breakthrough results.
These qigong classes, and the notes I wrote while practicing, inspired what became my multi-award-winning book, Breathe. Write. Breathe.: 18 Energizing Practices to Spark Your Writing and Free Your Voice, which won the Gold Nautilus Book Award and 13 other awards. In that book, I share many qigong, polarity yoga and other practices that help me and my book-writing and publishing clients write our best work with ease!

In 2021, I began studying qigong with Master Robert Peng through The Shift Network, which led to weekly online classes through RP Qigong and Master Key trainings at Kripalu and Omega. Over time, the results I experienced were extraordinary. My energy and vitality increased and stimulated my health in a multitude of ways: improved stamina, organ health, stress-reduction and calm, nervous system support, strength and more.
My family members noticed that qigong made me a more enjoyable person to be around: I wasn’t so quick to anger (an Aries trait!) and could even remain the calm one in a crisis or conflict—previously unheard of! As a result, qigong has helped my relationships and day-to-day living.
I’ve seen similar results with my classmates—vitality, happiness, kindness, compassion—these are some of the virtues that come from qigong practice.

Inspired by these benefits, I became certified to teach Empowerments and Happiness Qigong by Robert Peng, attended the two week long qigong healer training two years in a row, and recently served as one of Robert’s two assistants in the Master Key program at Omega in July 2026. I’ve been practicing qigong almost every day, often between 1 and 2.5 hours daily! I’ve formed deep friendships and found incredible support in the RP Qigong community. Many of us practice together on Zoom to stay accountable and motivated!
When our group hours were temporarily shortened by one day a week over the summer, I began teaching qigong on its own (without the writing). I held classes in my yard and in Narragansett by the ocean, so that I would not lose a day a week of qigong practice. Teaching qigong empowered my practice big time! On my own, my mind easily wanders, but when teaching, focus is much easier!

I’m excited to share that I found an all-weather local for our classes where we can be outdoors in beautiful weather and indoors otherwise. See the top of this page for details and contact me for details.
I look forward to sharing qigong with you, whether:
- In my Get Your Writing Done Program, where we start our classes with qigong practices for creative flow and then set intentions and write for 45 minutes. We break with more qigong and a few brief shares, and write another 40 or 45 minutes, followed by group sharing, questions, insights, or breakout groups to read to each other.
- You can join me for qigong classes in Southern Rhode Island Thursday mornings at 8 am. Contact me for location and details.
- Or come to a seaside writing retreat where we combine qigong with the written word and produce inspired work!
Are you planning a wellness or writing conference? Consider having me lead a qigong session for wellbeing and vitality or one for creative flow and writing! Contact me here for more details.
Or experience qigong with me right now in this video, filmed when I led a one hour qigong class for Master Robert Peng’s “Daily Energizer” while he traveled in China.
